IGC-CASE STUDY Northumbria University

THE PROJECT

IGC where approached by a Global architectural firm to assist on a consultancy basis to provide specialist advice to help achieve the optimum specification of the curtain walling/glazing for a new Computer Information Sciences Building at Northumbria University. The build contains a large amount of bespoke internal and external glass.

THE CHALLENGE

The client requested that the glass used attained at least the following values:

Achieving this formed part of a larger strategy around making the build as environmentally friendly and cost effective as possible. An aluminium back box system would be a preferred option for the external fa├žade of this build and finding an installer to facilitate the requirement had been proving problematic.

THE SOLUTION & OUTCOME

IGC where quickly able to identify glass products and processors who could not only achieve the requested values but beat them. Moreover, this could be done with at no significant extra cost meaning that IGC not only met and exceeded the clients brief but that the project achieved significant real term cost savings.
